┌────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ SECTION ONE: Introduction to BIRDCALL │
└────────────────────────────────────────┘
Here, at IguanaSoft World Headquarters, we love nature.
Unfortunately, due to the ever-increasing demand for new
IguanaSoft products, we are unable to get away from our
computers except for 3 or 4 daily beer runs.
After reading Lord Beasley Waterford's book "The
Butterfly and I", and of his adventures on an uncharted
desert isle in pursuit of the rare PussyCat Swallow Tail,
we had the urge to chuck it all and become adventurers in
search of the wonderful flying creatures of our planet.
Two things stopped us. We are all too lazy, and we
weren't sure that we'd be able to find any liquor stores
in the remote parts of the world we'd need to explore.
Faced with this dilemma, the IguanaTeam did what we
always do when dealing with a problem. We went on
another beer run. While examining the sanitary
facilities at IguanaSoft World Headquarters, D.C. Iguana
had an idea, "If we can't go to them, why don't we have
them come to us?" This simple thought was the spark
needed to set us to work on BIRDCALL.
After a whole bunch of research and experimentation, we
were able to discover the exact frequencies that would be
irresistible to our favorite flying friends, and created
a piece of software to recreate those frequencies and
attract those winged wonders. The IguanaTeam felt
fulfilled. We were now able to continue developing
wonderful new IguanaSoft programs, enjoy the beauty of
nature, avoid the physical demands of explorers, and
continue drinking the quantity of beer to which we had
become accustom.
We thought we had it all, but the question always
remains, "Is there anything we can do to get more beer?"
Of course, we'll share BIRDCALL with the world as
BeerWare. Not only would the world enjoy the wonders of
nature, but someone might actually send us some beer.
So there you have it. The exciting history of BIRDCALL.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we have. May all iguanas
run free, and send us some beer, huh.

│ SECTION TWO: Using BirdCall │
└──────────────────────────────┘
BirdCall, version 2.10 is fairly simple to use. It
incorporates the latest in Avian Attraction technology,
to allow as many things with wings as possible to be
attracted to your computer. BirdCall 2.10 currently
supports the calling of up to 18 species of birds and
butterflies.
BirdCall is operated through a very simple menu system.
Choose the Select Birds option at the main menu to select
as many different birds and or butterflies as you would
like to attract during your BirdCall session.
Next, select BirdCall! to actually put the program
through its paces. You can also configure BirdCall to
change the call duration. It may be helpful to your ears
to reduce the default call duration, especially when
attempting to attract several different species.
Of course, help is readily available if you're trouble
figuring out one of BirdCall's functions. Just hit the
F1 key to activate the help system.
┌────────────────────────────────┐
NEW! NEW! │ SECTION THREE: About BeerWare │ NEW! NEW!
└────────────────────────────────┘
Birdcall, Version 2.10 is not free. We worked long and
hard on it, and we got very thirsty while writing it.
In the past, BeerWare asked that you send us beer in
order to register the program. Unfortunately, we found
that this wasn't exactly working out.
Now, here at IguanaSoft, we're certainly not selfish, so
we've redefined the concept of BeerWare.
Simply put, you can now register your program merely by
consuming a cold brew in our honor. That's right: just
head down to your local liquor store and pick up a
six-pack of your favorite brand of beer. Then kick back,
pop it open and enjoy. Of course, we at IguanaSoft do
not endorse alcohol consumption by minors, and we urge
you to drink responsibly. Know when to say when. And
please, don't use IguanaSoft programs while driving,
operating heavy machinery, or while listening to Barry
Manilow records.
To complete the registration process, please let us know
exactly how much you enjoyed IguanaSoft's BirdCall and
your cold beer. You can reach us in one of two ways:
1) Call us. We can be found on The Razor's Edge BBS, the
home of IguanaSoft. Leave a message in the IguanaSoft
Conference, along with your name and address, and we'll
send you a registration code. If you don't want to make
your address public, then leave a comment to the Sysop,
or register using option 2 (below).
THE RAZOR'S EDGE BBS - (617) 786-8282
PCBoard 14.5 1200/2400 baud
Located in beautiful and historic Quincy, MA.
Note: The Razor's Edge BBS is a free public service, and
maintains no connections to IguanaSoft, other than being
a place where the programmers tend to hang out and answer
questions and comments. They also chant Aesop's Fables
to Broadway showtunes while Ballroom dancing in their
underwear...but they'll never admit it.
2) Write us. Our mailbox has been empty these days.
Send a postcard with your name and address, and we'll
send you your registration code along with a nifty little
IguanaSoft newsletter.
